Casual Day 2014
Thank you to everyone who supported us through Casual Day in 2014, it was a very special year, and the theme expressed a sense of occasion. We looking forward to again receiving your support through Casual Day in 2015.
The theme was …. Bring out the Bling.
Bring out the bling, put on the ritz, rustle up a little razzle dazzle with outfits inspired by the nightlife of the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s. To celebrate Casual Day’s 20th birthday we were inspiring South Africans to dress UP, not down. Go POSH CASUAL!
Our colour for the year was Dazzle Blue, a dramatic colour relating to the world of the theatre.
Blue was the colour of new pair of jeans. Top that with blue shirt, then add a little glitter on your lips, a layer of beads and a couple of bangles and you were ready to go.
Cover yourself with sequins and stars, shiny lipstick and shimmery eye-shadow. The guys draw on the styles of the 20s, 30s and 40s – the slicked back hair, the fedora hats, the casual jackets and the flamboyant attitude.
The styles of the 20s are back on the international catwalks. So we stepped out in style in our best top hat and tails, evening gown for the lady. We’re talking posh casual at its best. Accessorise that with strings of pearls, shiny beads and a feather boa, a fabulous hat or a feather in your cap. Of course, you did not have to follow that recipe exactly, you could wear your mini skirt with the tassles and fringe, adding a bling head band and a swishy feather.
Casual Day is all about fantasy so there is no need to go overboard and spend a fortune on an outfit. Just jazz it up with a swish of fabric and that all-important jaunty swagger. So, bling was the word…
And most importantly… WEAR YOUR STICKER!
Bring out the Bling and dazzle for disability in 2014.
